TAKE TWO EGGS

For this project, I look at ritual in the domestic home, and its importance and relevance to our daily interactions. The element of home I have chosen is probably the most basic; Retreat.
I will link ritual in the domestic home to the new aspiration of retreat. To create a mobile retreat away from home, the “organism/organiser”, will produce and assemble it through ritualistic processes which make use or re-balance available resources or waste. There are incredible amounts of ritual in in what one does in the home; from toeing your laces to cooking a six course meal. So, the new rituals of this organism become prosthetic within the usual regime. The materials for the retreat will be collected over time from the household, which are card, newspaper and if possible, corn. The idea here is that the more ordinary ambition of saving money to buy a retreat, is manipulated to: keeping waste to build the retreat. The new program involves sitting on card to create compressed bulding blocks, rolling newspapers to create flexible furniture and growing corn for fuel.
